Menstruation and Ovulation

Acupuncture can be used to regulate your menstrual cycle, enhance your fertility and re-balance your hormones to function as they should. In the clinic, we select acupuncture points to address complaints such as heavy periods, absent periods, irregular periods, painful periods, irregular ovulation and other symptoms which may or may not occur with conditions such as Endometriosis, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or Uterine Fibroids. It’s not always a topic which is easy to discuss but the more information you can provide, the better we can tailor a treatment plan to suit you.

Pre-conception Care

On a basic level, acupuncture treatments aim to improve fertility by regulating menstrual cycles to provide the most optimal circumstances for conception. As part of this process, there is also a strong emphasis on mental and emotional health with regards to stress management and mood stabilisation. But it’s not just all about the ladies! Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine may be used for stress management in men and to help improve sperm count, motility and morphology to improve chances of conception.

Pregnancy Care

Pregnancy is a time of rapid change and adjustment and many women seek support from Chinese Medicine to treat morning sickness and nausea, hip & lower back pain, constipation, fluid retention and general fatigue. Treatments during pregnancy can also help to regulate mood swings and provide an opportunity for rest and relaxation. Towards the end of your pregnancy, acupuncture and moxibustion may assist positioning of the foetus in preparation for childbirth.

Post-labour Care

Being a mother to a newborn baby can be equally as challenging as pregnancy. New mothers commonly feel fatigued and sleep deprived and the awareness around post-natal depression is becoming more widely known. Many women choose Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine to balance their emotions and improve their energy levels. In some instances, acupuncture may be beneficial where there are difficulties with lactation due to blockage or short supply of breast milk.

Menopause

Menopausal symptoms such as increasingly irregular periods, hot flushes, night sweats, lowered libido, dry skin and emotional turbulence can also be addressed through acupuncture treatments.
